September 4, 2019 ANNOUNCEMENT
Part-time Research Associate Opportunity
Mental Resilience in the Latinx Community
MotiSpark is a Los Angeles-based, mission-driven start-up dedicated to improving the well-being of diverse communities through interactive, personalized mobile video. We are seeking a part-time research associate to collaborate on a pilot project supporting mental health and resilience in local Latinx young adults. The research associate will work closely with our team and advisors to review relevant research, help finalize culturally appropriate content, and implement a methodology for evaluating outcomes. There will also be an opportunity to co-author a white paper and/or peer reviewed article of the study's findings.
Our project grant provides for a stipend of $2,500 for up to 10 hours per week for approximately 10 weeks (equivalent to $25/hour). The associate will be able to work virtually, but one or two in-person meetings in the Los Angeles area may be required.
The ideal candidate will have completed at least two years of graduate-level coursework in psychology, community health, public health, or related fields in the social and behavioral sciences— including training in both quantitative and qualitative research methods. Substantive expertise concerning the unique mental health challenges facing the Latinx community is preferred. Because the project is interdisciplinary and time/budget constrained, a demonstrated ability to canvass and synthesize expertise from multiple sources is vital. Prior experience working on applied research projects in e-health and/or community health is also a plus.
If interested, please send a cover letter and current CV to Jason McNichol, PhD, at firstname.lastname@example.org, by September 18th. The position is available immediately. Thank you!
